Instruction content/structure

Discover various strategies of production control through computer training with different (software~) systems for planning, control and simulation (including functions like supply chain management, push or pull, scheduling / sequencing, capacity planning, reliable analysis).

  • Tasks of production planning and control (PPC)
  • Systems for production planning and control
  • Methods for production planning and control based on the type of company and the principles of production
  • Modelling a production sequence using one example (run-through, material flow, information flow)

Practical work:

  • Practice-oriented handling of a production with the help of various PPC-systems (including orders, pieces lists, work schedules, calculations, delivery notes, invoices, material purchase, flabbergast, capacity planning, revertives etc.)
  • Simulation studies with specific examples using the simulation system Flexsim (or other)
  • tabletop simulation game: Presto or other
Qualification objectives

Students will learn about specific problems in production planning and control as well as their relationship to and dependence on environment parameters.

By the end of the course, students should be able to assess the situation in different companies and to use the correct methods to improve the production outcome based on the given circumstances.

Students will enhance their knowledge and skills independently through the use of project work, case studies and computer simulations.
