  • Analysis of regional and global smartphone markets.
  • Evolution of the smartphone, including the evolving hardware characteristics and sensor technologies.
  • Software development for Android:
    • Development language (Android, XML), app composition (manifest, UI, program code, build scripts) and Android Virtual Device (AVD) runtimes/emulators.
    • Activities and their life-cycle, intents, user interfaces, resources, data storage (SQL, shared preferences), permissions, fragments, style guides (e.g. Material Design), services, and sensors.
    • App security, distribution, and deployment.
  • Comparison to other development environments: XCode (Apple iOS) and Cross-Platform technologies.
Qualifikationsziele

Students know the individual characteristics of mobile operating systems and why these characteristics should be considered when designing and developing mobile applications. Students have the ability to apply theoretical and practical knowledge to develop robust mobile applications. Students are able to apply style guides to create UIs specific to the Android operating system, and they are able to test the usability of their created mobile applications.
