Instruction content/structure

Lecture:
Basics of Applied Acoustics, Sound Field, Sound Conduction, Sound Propagation and Sound Radiation (free-field),
Sound Power Measurement,
Foundation of Noise Rating Methods,
Noise Rating Level for Special Sound Scapes (railways and roads),
Standard software tools for the calculation of noise  rating levels.

Practical Training:
Practical Application of Acoustical Measurement Techniques,  Sound Power Measurement, 
Noise Rating for simple noise situatios.

Qualification objectives

The aim of the Module is to provide basic knowledge in acoustics with regard to noise rating and noise quality evaluation. Students should obtain the ability to use the equipment to measure and analyse sound signals. Furthermore the Students should be able to prepare and to calculate a simple noise immission Situation for traffic noise with the help of a standard software tool.
