Qualification objectives

The purpose of the course is to provide basic knowledge in car-to-car communication. The course provides an introduction to computer network protocols, architectures, and applications. Furthermore, the course will help the student to gain insights in the underlying theories on which computer networks are based on. In addition to general fundamentals of computer networks and digital communication, specifics of mobile communication in general and car-to-car communication in particular will be discussed.

After attending the course, students shall be able to:

  • understand the fundamentals of computer networks, such as architectures, protocols, and applications;
  • know the specifics of mobile computing (ad-hoc mesh networks)
  • have a fundamental understanding of the nature of car-to-car communication and its challenges;
  • understand the basics of network security in generals and security aspects of car-to-car communication networks in particular; and
  • be familiar with car-to-car communication standards.
