Getting to know the relationships between driving condition of the vehicle and the operating states of the engine, gearbox, drivetrain including exhaust gas aftertreatment.


Imparting basic knowledge in 1-D simulation of drive trains of modern vehicles including hybrid vehicles.

Simulation of simple vehicle models in quasi steady state and transient state.

Getting to the complex interaction between driving condition of the vehicle and the operation of the power converters.

Understanding the relationship between efficiency and emission behavior of different powertrains, including hybrid engines.

Basics of 1-D-Simulation in automotive engineering and creating of simple drivetrain models using a common simulation tool.

Qualification objectives

Upon successful completion, the student is able to understand the complex interaction of the vehicle drive and create targeted requirement profiles.
