Instruction content/structure

This course will examine how culture affects globalisation.  Focus will be on concepts of globalisation, culture, and identity, and include an exploration on communities of belonging.  Through cultural practices and expressions, new cultural identities and power relations are being negotiated. At the same time, the flow of cultural commodities, as well as international mobilities of people through immigration and studying abroad influence borders. This course looks at the practices that enable cultural forms and flows in the context of globalisation.

Qualification objectives

Students develop their capacity to be informed, open-minded, responsible people who engage with diverse perspectives and are able to address global issues collaboratively and sustainably.

Students examine relationships that influence globalised areas from multiple perspectives, analysing how these areas impact themselves and others.  As well as explore dimensions of global languages, culture, and identity. Finally, students create strategies to apply knowledge, skills, and abilities to work within and for continuously growing globalised communities.
